Maui – Day 1

Had a great time today.  Spent the day getting acclimated to the island.  Laughed a lot, ate too much, walked a ton – came upon a “shark sighting” as we were walking along the beach.  There were police officers and other important looking people with binoculars checking out the waters.  We saw “something” that could have been sharks – probably would look nothing like the shark in this picture, but I added the picture for dramatic effect!  :-)

We also saw manta rays swimming around in the water.  Hmmmm….do I really want to snorkle?  :-)   I also almost stepped on a huge crab – yikes!  Saw a bunch of sea urchins and other sea creatures along the beach.

Coming up this week – a luau, whale watching, maybe horseback riding in the valley, seeing Haleakala the volcano, and hanging out at the beach.

Maui is really an amazing place.  Very beautiful.  Very laid back – it’s such a blessing to be here! Check out Rob’s blog – he’ll be posting pics of our time.

Aloha!

  1. I checked out the pics over at Rob’s blog. It looks like you guys are having a great time! Be safe and enjoy your time away!

  2. Ah-yes-Maui IS laid back. If you Mapquest anything, it’ll say something like, “3 miles to WalMart. Estimated driving time: 1 hour and 15 minutes!” Well, maybe not quite that bad, but they are really slow moving there. It took me 4 or 5 days to slow down when we were there – and now I wish I could be there more often!!

    See you soon!

  3. I hate to be an “I-told-you-so”.

  4. Glad you guys are enjoying your time there! Have a nice Island drink for me!
