Hey Everyone (all 2 of my blog readers!) 🙂
I’m in the booming city of Austin, TX. Staying here. Attending this. Heard them at one of the general sessions…scared me, actually…interesting. And just for the benefit of my good friend Dave Powers, we get to hear Jeremy Camp as one of the session worship leaders. He is one of Dave’s favorite artists…just ask him.
Meeting a lot of interesting people, preparing for a couple of sessions where Greg Stier (president of the organization I work for and good friend of mine and Rob’s) will be speaking – one break out session and then on main stage tomorrow. We are very excited about the opportunity and are praying for a big impact in the lives of the many youth leaders here.
Thoughts about Austin – big hair, cowboy hats, Longhorns, flat, turquoise jewelry, cowboy boots, lack of southern accents – although the bell hop who helped us with our bags pointed out the “eyern” in our room…we refer to this as an “iron” in Denver. But for now we’ll just eyern our clothes. Cool pillows, lots of them on our beds…good service overall. Lots of fried food. Fried green tomatoes on most menus. Wish I could get off site to check out some music venues….great signs everywhere from great legends like Stevie Ray Vahn, etc. We’re staying near a fire station, so it seems like every few minutes there’s an emergency somewhere, but I think that’s just because we are near the station….and possibly because our good friend and co-worker, Mike Gaines, is very fond of saying, “Look, there goes another fire truck.” It’s a fixation he has….
I’m off to catch another session!
